MEET LEXY:
Therapy can be a place where you feel safe enough to be yourself, supported enough to face what is difficult, and empowered enough to begin making meaningful changes. Lexy Martin warmly welcomes individuals, couples, and families from all walks of life into her office. As a Master's Candidate Therapist completing her graduate training at Penn State Harrisburg, Lexy brings empathy, warmth, and a nonjudgmental presence to her work. She understands that reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable, and her first priority is creating an environment where clients feel genuinely welcomed, respected, and comfortable being exactly where they are.
Lexy's approach begins by helping clients recognize that they already possess strengths they can build upon.Grounded in a strengths-based and collaborative perspective, she draws from an evolving range of evidence-based approaches to meet the unique needs of each client. She is particularly interested in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), helping clients understand connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), including the ways emotions and attachment patterns influence relationships; and Gottman-informed approaches to couples therapy. Rather than expecting one model to fit every person or relationship, Lexy approaches therapy with curiosity and flexibility, working alongside clients to discover what feels most meaningful and helpful for them.
Lexy's clinical interests include couples and family therapy, women's concerns, trauma, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, stress management, and supporting people through challenging seasons of life. She is especially interested in helping clients understand patterns that may be keeping them stuck and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and the people they love. Whether someone comes to therapy individually, with a partner, or as a family, Lexy's goal is to help them feel heard while building greater connection, confidence, and emotional understanding. She believes positive change does not require becoming an entirely different person; sometimes it begins with recognizing existing strengths and learning how to use them in new ways.
In addition to her graduate clinical training, Lexy brings meaningful experience supporting children and families through her work as a Behavioral Health Technician with Ponessa Behavioral Health. Within Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS), she has worked with children experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges, including children with autism, across community and school settings. Her graduate education has also emphasized the importance of ethical practice, supervision, and consultation. Lexy approaches becoming a therapist with humility and a commitment to continually learning, growing, and providing responsible, compassionate care.
Lexy's decision to pursue counseling developed gradually through her own experience of discovering how meaningful a supportive therapeutic relationship can be during major life transitions. That experience helped clarify something she had felt for years: she wanted a career centered on helping others. Today, she brings that appreciation for the courage and vulnerability involved in therapy into the way she connects with clients. Outside of counseling, music is an important part of Lexy's life—she sings and plays piano, guitar, ukulele, and flute. She also enjoys relaxing with romance novels and spending time with her family, friends, and fiancé. Ultimately, Lexy hopes every client who enters her office finds a place where they can feel understood, discover their strengths, and move toward the life and relationships they want to create.
