MEET KARA:

Dr. Kara Hoff is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with dual state licensure in Virginia and Pennsylvania. She believes therapy is a deeply personal and collaborative process, where clients should feel safe, heard, and empowered. With warmth, humor, and authenticity, she fosters a space where individuals can explore their experiences, gain insight, and move toward meaningful change. She values the therapeutic relationship as a guiding force in treatment, ensuring clients feel supported in their journey toward healing.

In addition to therapy, Dr. Hoff provides comprehensive psychological assessments to help individuals gain deeper insight into their cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. These evaluations clarify diagnoses, guide treatment planning, and provide a greater understanding of personal strengths and challenges. Her approach to assessment is collaborative, ensuring that results are meaningful and applicable to each individual’s unique circumstances.

  • Dr. Hoff specializes in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and suicidality. She recognizes that emotional distress can feel isolating and overwhelming, and she strives to create a space where clients can process difficult emotions without judgment. Using evidence-based interventions, she helps clients build coping skills, develop resilience, and regain a sense of control over their lives.

With a background in athletics, Dr. Hoff has attended extensive sports psychology and performance trainings, focusing on mindfulness-based approaches and breathwork. She integrates these techniques to help athletes and high performers manage stress, enhance focus, and improve overall mental well-being. Whether working with competitive athletes or individuals striving to optimize performance in other areas of life, she helps clients harness the mental aspects of success.

Known for her authenticity, creativity, and humor, Dr. Hoff maintains an active lifestyle outside of her work. She enjoys going to the gym, hiking with her rescue dog Riley, and engaging in outdoor activities—especially those involving water, such as fishing, sailing, and paddleboarding. She also expresses her creativity through nature photography.

A passionate advocate for animal rescue, Dr. Hoff shares a deep bond with her dog, Riley, whom she saved from a high-risk shelter in Virginia. Their journey together has been one of mutual healing, perfectly capturing the sentiment, “Who saved who?”

Dr. Hoff is dedicated to helping individuals navigate their past while remaining grounded in the present, providing a therapeutic experience that fosters self-awareness, growth, and empowerment.
