MEET KARA:
Dr. Kara Hoff is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with dual state licensure in Virginia and Pennsylvania. She brings extensive clinical experience from a range of settings across the East Coast, including drug and alcohol treatment programs, university counseling centers, and correctional facilities. She believes therapy is a deeply personal and collaborative process, where clients should feel safe, heard, and empowered. With warmth, humor, and authenticity, she fosters a space where individuals can explore their experiences, gain insight, and move toward meaningful change. She values the therapeutic relationship as a guiding force in treatment, ensuring clients feel supported in their journey toward healing.
Dr. Hoff specializes in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and suicidality. In addition to providing therapy and supervision, Dr. Hoff serves as the director of the psychological assessment program at Sun Point Foundation, where she conducts comprehensive evaluations to help individuals gain deeper insight into their cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. These assessments are designed to clarify diagnoses, inform treatment planning, and enhance understanding of each individual’s unique strengths and challenges. Dr. Hoff takes a collaborative approach to assessment, ensuring that results are both meaningful and applicable to each person’s circumstances. She currently specializes in ADHD assessments, differential diagnosis, and court-mandated evaluations, and is pleased to announce that the program will expand to include autism assessments by fall 2026.
With a background in Division I athletics, Dr. Hoff has attended extensive sports psychology and performance trainings, focusing on mindfulness-based approaches and breathwork. She integrates these techniques to help athletes and high performers manage stress, enhance focus, and improve overall mental well-being. She also expresses her creativity through nature photography.
A passionate advocate for animal rescue, Dr. Hoff shares a deep bond with her dog, Riley, whom she saved from a high-risk shelter in Virginia. Their journey together has been one of mutual healing, perfectly capturing the sentiment, “Who saved who?”
Dr. Hoff is deeply dedicated to providing individualized, integrative approaches to therapy, tailoring treatment to align with the unique needs, goals, and lived experiences of each person she works with. She places great value on the therapeutic relationship and considers it both a privilege and a gift to witness the vulnerability clients bring into the space. With a strong emphasis on trust, empathy, and authenticity, Dr. Hoff strives to cultivate a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel seen, understood, and empowered to pursue meaningful growth and lasting change.
