Join The Foundation: Igniting Hope & Wellness in Underserved Communities
Building bridges, fostering connections, and instilling hope - this is what we aim for at the Sun Point Foundation. As a newly established non-profit organization, based in Lancaster, PA, our mission is to break down barriers to mental health services in underserved communities. We are excited to announce that we are expanding our team and are currently seeking Supervisory Psychologists and Primary Therapists who share our commitment to mental health.
In the United States, approximately 1 in 5 adults experience mental health concerns each year, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. This statistic has been amplified by the recent COVID-19 pandemic, adding more stressors to already strained individuals. Unfortunately, access to much-needed mental health resources is often hampered in underprivileged communities due to financial constraints, a lack of awareness, and stigma.
The escalating mental health crisis is exerting an increasingly unequal strain on Medicaid, according to recent research.
A study conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation reveals that nearly 39% of those enrolled in Medicaid struggle with mental health issues or substance abuse. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) note that the financial burden of providing mental health services falls more heavily on Medicaid than any other payer.
We at the Sun Point Foundation are working to change this. We believe in making mental health resources readily available to everyone, regardless of their background or financial situation. This belief resonates in our mission to provide insurance and sliding scale service options, soon to include PerformCare state insurance. Our overarching goal is to level the playing field, ensuring every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
Sun Point Foundation’s mission is to provide evidence-based counseling that is accessible to everyone. “We are excited to launch The Sun Point Foundation to support mental health and wellness to communities in need.” The Foundation shared in their recent press release.
“Our goal is to help individuals and families thrive by providing access to resources and services that are often out of reach. We believe that everyone deserves access to mental health care, and we are committed to making that a reality,” Laura Morse, M.Ed., LPC added.
We are passionate about hiring professionals who are eager to make a difference.
