MEET AMANDA:
Change can begin with having a place where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted. Amanda Goodwin welcomes individuals and couples into a warm, collaborative space where they can slow down, make sense of what they are experiencing, and begin considering what they want life to look like moving forward. She works especially well with adults who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about their next chapter. Grounded in compassion and curiosity, Amanda believes clients are the experts on their own lives—and that meaningful growth often happens not through one dramatic transformation, but through a series of thoughtful, achievable steps.
Amanda’s approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and tailored to the person sitting across from her. Her developing clinical style integrates person-centered therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing. She has completed additional training in Motivational Interviewing through the University of British Columbia, Positive Psychology through the University of Pennsylvania, and Emotional Intelligence through Daniel Goleman. Her graduate studies have further explored creative approaches to emotional regulation and developmentally appropriate care, strengthening her ability to look beyond symptoms and understand each client within the larger context of their experiences, relationships, strengths, and goals.
Amanda’s clinical interests include depression and bipolar disorder, neurodivergence, stress and emotional regulation, self-esteem, identity development, career exploration, life transitions, and relationship and attachment concerns. In her work with couples, she is interested in helping partners better understand themselves and one another, recognize patterns affecting their connection, and create space for more intentional ways of relating. Amanda believes that even when the path forward is unclear, growth and meaningful change remain possible. She brings a pragmatic optimism to therapy—acknowledging the reality of difficult circumstances while helping clients identify strengths, explore new perspectives, and move toward lives and relationships that feel more authentic and fulfilling.
Amanda’s path to becoming a therapist gives her a particularly meaningful perspective on change. After many years in manufacturing leadership, she realized that some of the most important moments of her career had little to do with operations and everything to do with people—listening without judgment, supporting individuals through difficult seasons, helping them find resources, and making room for honest conversations about mental health. Those experiences ultimately inspired Amanda to make a significant career transition and pursue counseling as a second-act profession. She understands firsthand that changing direction can be both intimidating and exciting, and she brings that lived perspective into the therapy room with warmth, hope, and respect for the courage it can take to imagine something different.
Outside of counseling, Amanda enjoys hiking, bicycling, reading, learning, creative projects, and exploring new places. Nature offers her a restorative reminder to slow down and be present, while reading gives her the opportunity to continually learn—or simply become absorbed in a great story. She also values creativity for its own sake and enjoys hands-on activities where the process matters as much as the finished product. These interests reflect much of what Amanda brings to her clinical work: openness, curiosity, creativity, and an appreciation for the many ways people find meaning. Her hope is to help clients understand the stories they have been carrying, recognize the possibilities still ahead, and intentionally shape the next chapter of their lives.
